Susie Q's Kids, Inc.
Susie Q’s Kids “provides comfort bags to kids in need”: sick kids battling an illness, foster kids adapting to a new life, kids in shelters feeling safe, trafficked and bullied kids finding peace, autistic kids exploring new ideas, grieving kids learning to cope with their loss, and suicidal kids finding the hope to continue on. Each bag provides a soft bear to cuddle, a fuzzy blanket to stay warm, hygiene items to refresh them as they start their new day, inspirational items to motivate them, and journals, coloring books, crayons, games, to make the moments easier to manage.
Susan McBride (Susie Q)
Susie Q’s Kids, Inc. was started in honor of Susan McBride (Susie Q), a special young lady who loved kids, giving back, and living every day to its fullest.
After a lifetime of medical issues, she succumbed to an infection in 2017 that ended her short life at 31 years of age. She was a treasure that touched the lives of all she met with her smile, laughter, positivity, and unfailing desire to help others. Susie made a difference in the lives of those she touched and continues to do so through this program.
She understood the value of a teddy bear, the comfort of a lap blanket, the healing properties of journaling and coloring, and she loved helping others. She was in and out of hospitals most of her adult life, she had a young friend Felicia who was a foster kid, she did bake sales and collected items for local shelters, and she loved life and laughter. We give our comfort bags to kids in hospital, health and hospice situations, foster care, shelters, and grief comfort bags to kids that are missing a loved one.
Susie’s legacy is to “comfort kids in need, one comfort bag at a time”, thus we brighten and inspire the lives of other kids in her honor.
